Abstract
Anaerobic digestion is a biochemical process in which organic matter is decomposed in the absence of oxygen and produces methane gas. Therefore anaerobic digestion technology is an efficient method for energy generation from biomass. Lignocellulosic biomass, such as agricultural residuals and energy crops, is an abundant organic resource. The wastes with high lignocellulosic contents are resistant to biodegradation by enzymes and microorganisms do to their structural and chemical properties such as; cellulose crystallinity, accessible surface area, degree of cellulose polymerization, presence of lignin and hemicellulose, and degree of hemicellulose
