Eduard Rogatsky completed his M.Sc in physical chemistry from Belarus State University, PhD in bioanalytical chemistry from Bar-Ilan University (Israel) in 1999, and postdoctoral studies at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, NY. He joined the faculty there in 2001, and is currently a Senior Associate Scientist and Director of Mass Spectrometry in the Biomarker Analytical Resource Core Laboratory, Einstein-Montefiore Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, Bronx, NY, USA

Design and development ultra-sensitive LC/MS analytical assays of clinical biomarkers and metabolites. LC/MS analysis of peptide hormones and proteins and absolute quantitation using isotope dilution assays. Design and development of multi-dimensional chromatography platforms and investigation of physical processes during column switching and mixing. Investigations of column selectivity under different conditions. Optimization of LC/MS for use of UPLC and fused core columns.

Mirko Diksic received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia, in 1966, 1968, and 1970, respectively. From 1979 to 1991, he was an Assistant and Associate Professor (with tenure) and from 1992 to 2010, a Professor, McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada. Since 2010, he has been a Professor Emeritus, McGill University, Canada. He is a member of the editorial boards of several journals, an ad hoc referee for 15 journals, and a Co chairman and an organizer of sessions at many international meetings. He supervised more than 40 graduate students and postgraduate fellows. His research interests include the evaluation of the brain serotonergic system in humans using positron emission tomography and in animals using autoradiography. His publications include 260 papers published in refereed journals, 280 abstracts, 149 invited lectures, and 8 review articles in refereed journals. He is a coeditor of a book.

Andrew Benniston completed his Ph.D in 1990 from Warwick University (UK) and carried out post-doctoral work at the Université de Strasbourg and the University of Texas at Austin. He is the director of the Molecular Photonics Laboratory at Newcastle University. He has published more than 130 papers in a wide variety of journals and he is on the editorial board of Analle Univ. Al.I. Cuza Iasi.

Professor Colston is an analytical chemist with a PhD in chemistry and over 20 years post-doctoral research experience at UK academic institutions. Post-doctoral research at the university of Manchester was in collaboration with the Atomic Energy Authority (AEA Harwell) and Nirex (UK), developing strategies for radioactive waste disposal. During the same period, she was engaged in consultancy/contract research within the University as a project manager for CAPCIS MARCH, establishing commercial-in-confidence research within the British Nuclear Industry, gaining national and international recognition as a radio-/nuclear chemist, and chairing the UK Radiochemistry Group (RSC) for a number of years. In 1997, Professor Colston was invited to spend a sabbatical year as Visiting Professor of Nuclear Chemistry at Florida State University, USA. Following the appointment in 1993 as Lecturer in Chemistry (initially within the Department of Chemistry, and subsequently the School of Pharmacy) at De Montfort University, Professor Colston rapidly established a research and consultancy group in heritage science, initially applying nuclear analytical techniques, and subsequently a broad range of analytical methodologies, to aspects of conservation and interpretation within the field of cultural heritage. This research continued in Lincoln, after being appointed as Senior Lecturer in Analytical Chemistry in 2003 and Reader in Analytical Chemistry and Heritage Science in 2007. Professor Colston was awarded a Chair in 2010, and is currently Director of the Historic and Ancient Materials Research Group.

Joseph Pesek has a B.S. degree in Chemistry (University of Illinois) and Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry (UCLA). He is Professor of Chemistry at San Jose State University and was named a Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation Scholar in 1993 and in 2001. He had sabbatical leaves in Paris (Georges Guiochon), Marseille (Tony Siouffi), and Melbourne (Milton Hearn). He has over 200 publications, 3 books, 4 patents and made over 200 presentations. He is one of the editors for the Journal of Separation Science.

His research interests include the development, characterization and applications of separation materials for chromatographic and electrophoretic processes.

In 1988, Dr. Shears joined NIEHS (part of the NIH) to become one of the founding members of a department devoted to the study of cell-signaling. He assembled a multidisciplinary group that remains dedicated to this research. He has authored nearly 200 scientific articles and reviews on this subject.

Dr. Ismail Murat Palabiyik graduated from Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ankara and obtained PhD from Department of Analytical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ankara. Currently, he is working in same department. His current research is developing analytical techniques for drug analysis from dosage forms and biological fluids using capillary electrophoresis, high performance liquid chromatography, spectrofluorimetry and UV spectrophotometry. Beside this, for investigating effects of experimental factors on analysis in HPLC and CE methods.

Drug analysis in dosage forms and biological samples: Development and validation of new analysis methods for simultaneous determination of drug mixture using capillary electrophoresis, high performance liquid chromatography, spectrophotometry and spectrofluorimetry. Chemometry: Simultaneous determination and analysis of drug mixture using chemometric techniques (Classical Least Squares, Inverse Least Squares, Principal Component Regression, Partial Least Squares) Method Optimization: Using statistical and mathematical techniques (Response Surface Methodology, Artifical Neural Network, etc.) for developing, improving and optimizing processes and interpreting the relationship between response and factor effects.

Edward Lai obtained his Ph.D. degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Florida (U.S.A.) in 1982. He is a Full Professor at Carleton University (since 1999) who has accumulated 29 years of research experience and knowledge in bioorganic and environmental analytical chemistry. He is a fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada (since 2004) and has published 102 scientific papers, and presented over 110 talks/posters at conferences. His research interests are instrumental analysis of biochemical and environmental samples, using new photochemical, electrochemical, chromatographic and electrophoretic techniques to develop new analytical methods for enhanced sensitivity and selectivity. He has a wealth of experience in synthesizing highly functional molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for specific recognition of pharmaceuticals, mycotoxins, and endocrine disrupting compounds. He also teaches electronic instrumentation and automation at the graduate level.

Edward Lai research interests are Instrumental analysis of biochemical and environmental samples for public health, using nanosecond laser spectroscopy, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), capillary electrophoresis (CE), and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS). New photochemical, electrochemical and optical phenomena are developed into analytical methods for enhanced sensitivity and selectivity: (a) SPR immunosensor for the detection of fumonisin B1 and peanut allergenic proteins in agricultural crops and food extracts; (b) molecularly imprinted polymers for the selective determination of therapeutic drugs in serum, ochratoxin A in red wine, and estrogenic compounds in waste water treatment by solid-phase extraction with differential pulsed elution; (c) laser desorption ionization for the TOFMS analysis of bioorganic molecules on polypyrrole-coated nanospheres; (d) self-assembled monolayers and electropolymerized thin films for adsorption of toxic metals (Hg2+, Ag+), radioactive nuclides (Sr-90, Y-90), and biomolecules (mycotoxins, peptides, proteins); (e) bioconjugation of quantum dots with proteins, antibodies and synthetic receptors; and (f) functionalization of superparamagnetic nanoparticles for removal of E. coli in water.

Dr. Vinod Kumar Gupta is the Professor and Head of the Department of Chemistry at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee. He earned his Ph.D. in 1979 from the University of Roorkee, India and Post-doctorate from (CSIR), Univ. of Roorkee, India. He has thirty three years teaching experience (Physical, Analytical and General Chemistry) of under-graduate engineering and post-graduate classes. He has published and presented several research papers, articles and abstracts in peer reviewed journals and conferences. He got many awards like Khoshla Research Prize in 1991, European Commission Post Doctoral Fellowship awarded by European Commission and DST, Govt. of India in 1992 – 1993. He is an invited speaker at international scientific meetings and conferences. He serves as a Editorial Board Member for more than 30 scientific international journals.

Dr. Guertin has 20 years experience in spinal cord research and 9 years experience in science leadership. He was President and CEO of NeuroSpina Therapeutics between 2005 and 2008 and is currently Chief Scientific Officer of Eurymedon HealthCare. Over the years he has obtained several million dollars in financing from non-profit organizations and foundations to conduct basic research and drug development. He has developed a cutting edge expertise also in hormonal, cardiovascular, metabolic, muscular and bone system regulation and deregulation. He holds a tenure track faculty position as Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Physiology at Universite Laval 2001 and is also the Director and Principal Investigator of the Spinal Cord Injury and Functional Recovery Laboratory 2002 based in Quebec City Laval University Medical Center CHUQ/CHUL. He received a BSc degree in 1989 in Kinesiology from University of Montreal, an MSc degree in 1992 in Neurokinetic from University of Quebec in Montreal and a PhD degree in 1996 in Neurophysiology from the University of Manitoba. He has pursued his training as a postdoctoral fellow between 1996 and 2000 in Denmark Panum Institute Copenhagen England University of Oxford France University of AixenProvence II and Canada Universite de Montreal. He is a leading scientist in his field and has published more than 100 articles and communications since 1990. Dr. Pavel Nesterenko received his M.Sc in Petrochemistry and Organic Catalysis, PhD and DSc in Analytical Chemistry degrees in Department of Chemistry, Lomonosov Moscow State University (Moscow, Russian Federation). At present, Prof. Nesterenko holds a position of New Stars Professor at the University of Tasmania, Hobart, Australia. Adjunct professor of Dublin City University, Ireland since 2005, Visiting Honorary Research Fellow of the University of Plymouth, UK since 2003. He is an Author of 250 scientific publications including 2 monographs, 7 Chapters in books, 20 reviews and 220 regular papers and also a member of advisory and editorial boards for 6 international journals in the field of analytical chemistry and separation sciences. In 2004 he was awarded a prestigious E.T.S. Walton Professorship of Science Foundation of Ireland. In 2006 he received International Achievement Award for outstanding contributions in developing the methodology of Ion Chromatography.

Professor Alexander A Kamnev is a Leading Scientist at the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Plants and Microorganisms, Russian Academy of Sciences (Saratov, Russia). He received his MSc in chemistry (1980), Cand. Sci. (PhD equivalent; 1992) and DSc (2002) in physical chemistry from Saratov State University. His scientific background included physical chemistry and electrochemistry of transition-metal hydroxide materials.

His research has been focused on the application of various spectroscopic techniques in studying biomolecules, biocomplexes, supramolecular structures and microbial cells.

Associate Professor Cather Simpson earned a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences with a Howard Hughes Predoctoral Fellowship. After a Department of Energy Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship at Sandia National Labs, she joined the Chemistry Department at Case Western Reserve University, where she earned tenure and promotion in 2005. In 2007, she moved to the University of Auckland, where she holds appointments in Chemistry and Physics, and is founding Director of a multiuser laser facility called The Photon Factory, that opened in 2010. Her team of ~25 physics, chemistry, and engineering researchers perform fundamental research in the photodynamics of molecules, targeted research to advance ultrafast laser micromachining and fabrication, and industry-facing research with over a dozen companies and research institutes. A spin-off company is commercializing a novel approach to cell sorting. She has published over 50 papers and was recently awarded a Callaghan Commercialisation Fellowship and a University of Auckland Award for Sustained Excellence in Teaching.
